Slippery

Winter is back again. It's snowing and slippery.

A New Sanitarium

It's been decided. There will be a new sanitarium in Inowroclaw. Object will be build by American company and owner comes from USA. Why I'm writing about it? Because it's probably first case after II WW, we will have private sanitarium. All objects belong to state. Hopefully it won't be architecturally similiar like lumpy Veteran Sanitarium (pictured).

Euro 2012

Usually on Mondays I sense strange irritation among countryfellows. Yep, weekend ended and it's time to back to treadmill. Pictured building is City Stadium, and it isn't planned as Euro 2012 stadium but when winter end it's going to be a place not only sport events like football matches. Here take place curtular events as well like concerts and festivals.

Red Army

21st of January 1945 Inowroclaw was liberated by Red Army. Yes. Liberated from Nazis. What happened after was a new occupation but it's different story. I think Russians do not understand or do not want to understand, what they took that time away was our independence. For Poles 1918 and 1919 was time of fight for own state, twenty some years of freedom to 1939 was what they dreamt about for more than 100 years. Five years of Nazis genocide was the most horrible time in our history and people that time believed Red Army brought them freedom and chance for revival, but soon they understood they were wrong. But that day of January 1945 Russians were real liberators, welcoming with tears of joy. Pictured monument is for those people from 2 Armoured Army, for major Tieliakow, for Tankist Macapura, Private Gabarkow, Lieutenant Alejnik and many more whose names were lost. It's not for Stalin, Voroshylov, Beria or NKVD squads. Some people here want to dismantle the monument, but I think it should stay where it is.

County's Birthday

Local Government Roerganization Act from 1998 restored Counties. Inowroclaw County was created 1st January 1999. I've met various oppinions about this level of administration, from praises to accusations of squandering or main blocade to Inowroclaw development. Whatever you say, County is ten years old and in my oppinion is to early for judgement of it's work. Personally I ddon't remember any upseting or positive events, what for me means it works properly. With oppinions I'll wait for it's 18th Birthday.

Bottleneck

Don't let to deceive the little traffic on this picture. Staszica Street is a part of route to Poznan and Bydgoszcz. In rush hours it looks like million people agglomeration, traffic jams are here horrible.

72,5

Today's title is actual number of Citizens of Inowroclaw. Seventy two and half thousand, this is how many people live here. Back to 1997 city had about 5000 inhabitants more, so we're shrinking. Opened boarders, migration to bigger cities and abroad, especially after joining Poland to European Union done the job. It's wider trend as I've heard and touched more cities in Poland. I remember like few years ago, we were preparing for welcoming 80.000th citizen of Salt City.

Spot

Colourful spot in the middle of the picture is outdoor commercial post. What is placed on board is view of a flower carpet. There's absolutely no courtesy, but environmental workers of Council makes real masterpieces from flowers. So far, we have to wait.

Sun Flash

Mix of clouds and sun, late afternoon, patch of fresh snow, piked towers. Sometimes it's hard to believe it's Inowroclaw.

Cabbage wraps

Cabbage wraps called "Golabki", (Pidgeons in free translation, however haven't got anything common with real pidgeons) is rice and minced meat in cabbage wraps. There are many variations of the dish including vegetarian, with red cabbage or grits. Anyway, visiting Poland you must try it. Delicious. This pictured in tomato sauce.

Uroboros
